After years of instability, Egypt’s tourism sector is witnessing a healthy increase in visitor numbers. Leading this revival is Germany, which overtook Russia for the first time ever as the number one source of tourists to Egypt in 2019.
In 2018, Egypt welcomed 9 million tourists, up from 5.4 million in 2016. Of those 9 million tourists in 2018, a sizeable 1.7 million visitors came from Germany.
